Help stopping

Stopping smoking isn't easy but the NHS Newham Stop Smoking Service provides FREE support and advice to all smokers living and working in Newham to help you stop.

Community-based advisors

Nearly every pharmacy in Newham and most GP surgeries have a trained advisor to support you to stop smoking. This involves approximately 5 appointments lasting between 15-30 minutes on a one to one basis.

Drop-in service

Hospital service

Support is provided to inpatients, outpatients, staff and visitors at Newham University Hospital Trust (Newham General Hospital).

An advisor can see patients during their stay at their bedside and/or in an outpatients clinic at the hospital.

Stop smoking groups

These groups are run at various locations in Newham, mostly in the evenings. They involve attending weekly sessions of about an hour for 7 weeks in total, although further sessions can be arranged.

One to one support during pregnancy for mums-to-be and partners. There are 2 clinics a week at Newham University Hospital.

Muslim men's service

Stop smoking advisors provide advice, information and support specifically for the Muslim community. Groups and one to one sessions are available across Newham. Information is also available at mosques during Ramadan and advisors can speak a number of South Asian languages.
